UN EXPERTS URGE US TO STOP TORTUROUS EXECUTION BY NITROGEN GAS

The UN has expressed serious concerns about the planned execution of Kenneth Smith by using nitrogen gas, which is an untested and potentially torturous method.

The UN experts have called on the US and Alabama to halt the execution and to respect the international human rights treaties that prohibit torture and cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.

They have also warned that the execution could violate the ban on harmful medical and scientific experimentation on humans.
