Ghana’s Black Princesses have achieved a remarkable feat by qualifying for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia. This is their seventh consecutive appearance in the tournament, making them one of the most consistent teams in Africa.

They secured their qualification by defeating Senegal 7-1 on aggregate in the final round of the qualifiers. They scored five goals in the second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, January 21, 2024, after winning 2-0 in Dakar a week ago. They will join Nigeria, Morocco and Cameroon as the African representatives in the World Cup.

The Black Princesses have never advanced beyond the group stage of the U-20 Women’s World Cup, despite their impressive record of qualification. They will hope to break that jinx and make history in Colombia later this year. They will also aim to emulate the success of the Black Maidens, who reached the quarter-finals of the U-17 Women’s World Cup.
