THE KOMFO ANOKYE TEACHING HOSPITAL GETS FACELIFT

0

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Ghana, is undergoing a significant rehabilitation project. This initiative, known as the ‘Heal Komfo Anokye’ project, was launched by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on November 10, 2023.

The project aims to raise funds to renovate and rehabilitate the old ‘GEE’ blocks of the hospital, which have not seen any major rehabilitation since they were constructed in 1954 and was in a deplorable state which was bad for the name of the teaching hospital and patients that were on admission at the hospital.

The objective of this project is to bring the wards to standards comparable to any other leading teaching hospital in the world. The current state of the wards, compounded by massive leakages, hanging cables, loose and falling plumbing pipes, and peeling floors, has made it imperative for a major renovation.

The hospital serves 12 regions of the country and other neighboring West African countries. The project aims to provide comfortable and convenient places for patients to ensure early recovery.

The ‘Heal Komfo Anokye’ project committee plans to fund the project through contributions from individuals and corporations both home and abroad. Donations were made and is still on going through Bank Transfers and Mobile Money transactions
