2024 GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS NUMBERS STILL RELATIVELY LOW AS COMPARED TO THE PANDEMIC AUDIENCE

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards were held on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The ceremony honored the best in film and television of 2023, as chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). The show was hosted by comedian and actor Kevin Hart, who also won the newly added award for Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television.

On the night the movie “Oppenheimer” shined really bright as it won three awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actor for Murphy, and Best Director for Nolan.
The film Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, dominated the musical or comedy category, winning four awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Actress for Robbie, Best Actor for Gosling, and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
The film Poor Things, based on the novel by Alasdair Gray and starring Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe, won two awards, including Best Actress for Stone and Best Supporting Actor for Dafoe.

The television series Succession, created by Jesse Armstrong and starring Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong, led the TV nominees with six awards, including Best Television Series – Drama, Best Actor for Cox, Best Actress for Sarah Snook, Best Supporting Actor for Kieran Culkin, Best Supporting Actress for J. Smith-Cameron, and Best Screenplay for Armstrong
The television series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and starring Rachel Brosnahan and Alex Borstein, won three awards, including Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, Best Actress for Brosnahan, and Best Supporting Actress for Borstein.

These are some of the major highlights of the night yet he numbers the awards show was able to gather still couldn’t beat the previous audience during the pandemic season.
