7 dead, 8 in critical condition after accident on Accra- Cape Coast highway

Seven passengers died on the spot last night in a gory accident that occurred near Gomoa Antseadze on the Cape Coast – Accra highway in the Central Region.

Eight other victims, who were critically injured are battling for life at the St. Luke’s Catholic Hospital at Apam.

The accident, according to witnesses occurred around 7pm as the driver of a Sprinter Benz bus with registration number GW 7920-22 raced with another Sprinter bus.

 

The Apam District Fire Service Officer, ACFO Ankomah Nuamah, told reporters that during the race, one driver lost control causing the vehicle to somersault several times before hitting a tree on the roadside.

The rescue team rushed to the scene after SOS calls an hour later to pull out survivors.
The dead including three females and four males have since been handed over to the Ghana Police Service to be deposited at a morgue.
