The President’s address on measures taken to control the spread of covid-19 as Senior High Schools resumes

The recent address by the President of Ghana Nana Addo to the state on 21st June 2020 was mainly on the reopening of schools for Senior High School students as well as new updates on the recent findings about the corona virus by the World Health Organization.

 

President Nana Addo has announced that the examination fees of all senior high school students would be paid by the government. According to him, GHS75.4 million would be spent on the total number of 313,837 final year Wassce students.

All schools have been fumigated to enable students have a safe and heathy environment for their studies while all staff and students would be given reusable face mask today.

Besides the maximum class size in every school is expected to be 25 while a dormitory would be used as an isolation center for sick students.

The President however stated that the country’s approach to fighting the virus is still informed by science and data and there has been new findings by WHO about the coronavirus that shows after 10 to 14 days, a person with no covid-19 symptoms is unlikely to transmit the virus to others even if victims continue to test positive.
