Continuing students of some tertiary institutions who could not complete their studies before the shutdown of schools as a result of the coronavirus pandemic are to return on Monday, August 24.
Among the institutions are University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), some technical universities and other colleges.
“After extensive stakeholder consultations, the decision has been taken for continuing students in these tertiary institutions to return to school on 24th August to finish their academic year,” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated on Sunday, August 16.
He was speaking in a nationwide address on the measures taken by his government in the fight against coronavirus.

In the education sector, final year students in tertiary institutions as well as high schools were allowed back to the classrooms on Monday, June 15 to complete their final examinations.
While the tertiary students are done with their courses, senior high school students are writing their West African Senior Schools Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) and are scheduled to finish on September 5, 2020.
Final year junior high school students will begin their Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) on Monday, September 14 and finish on Friday, September 18, 2020.
So far, most schools have adopted online studies to complete their academic work for first, second and third-years.
But President Akufo-Addo notes that those who have not done so must resume on Monday, August 24 to complete their courses.
“Just as was done for final year students who returned to school, government through the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service will ensure that all these tertiary institutions are disinfected.
“The universities will be equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment and those with their own hospitals and clinics will have isolation centres to deal with any positive cases.
