THE GHANAIANS WHO WALKED FROM TAKORADI TO ACCRA IN 3 DAYS

It seems the season of Ghanaians breaking and setting records to enter into the Guinness book of records isn’t ending anytime soon. 3 individuals including a 54-year-old man with the name Mr. Henry Smith have completed a journey from Takoradi to Accra in 3 days on foot.

The other members of the group namely Mr. Lawrence Manful and one Miss Millicent insisted that they embarked on the journey for charitable purposes and not for fame or breaking or making of records.

They insisted their aim was raising revenue on charity walk to help an orphanage. Speaking in an interview with TV3 Mr. Henry Smith insisted it wasn’t their first time embarking on such a feat as they started in 1996 and have walked from Elubo (a border town in the Western Region of Ghana) to Aflao (another border town in the Volta Region of Ghana).

Along the way, they faced various obstacles, such as scorching heat, fatigue, blisters and dehydration which made some members of the group contemplate on in Mankesim but they kept moving until they got to the final destination. They are not professional athletes or celebrities but rather ordinary Ghanaians who love walking and want to make a difference in the society by helping the orphanage home at Dodowa.
