JAPAN ISSUES TSUNAMI WARNING FOLLOWING 7.6 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE

Japan has issued a tsunami warning after a powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the island nation. The earthquake, which occurred at 4:10pm. Local time (0710 GMT) in Ishikawa prefecture prompted authorities to issue a tsunami warning for coastal areas.

Residents have been advised to evacuate to higher ground and remain vigilant. The earthquake’s epicentre was reportedly located in Ishikawa prefecture, and its effects were felt across Noto Region. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, waves as high as 1.2 meters were observed after a series of strong quakes struck Japan.
