JAPAN IN THE NEWS AGAIN AS FIRE ENGULFS PLANE AFTER COLLITION

There have been a few incidents of Japanese airlines that caught fire in the past. The most recent one happened on January 2, 2024, when a Japan Airlines jet collided with another aircraft (Japanese Coast Guard Plane) on the runway at Haneda airport in Tokyo and burst into flames.

Japan Airlines said all 367 passengers and 12 crew members had safely evacuated the jet. Unfortunately, 5 members on the Japanese Coast Guard plane that collided with it were killed, these coast guards were headed to western Japan to help with the earthquake that occurred days back.

Flight attendants through skill and luck, miraculously helped all 367 passengers out of the engulfed airline. The plane was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which had previously suffered from electrical problems and battery fires in 2013.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
