ACCRA-TEMA MOTORWAY TO GET MASSIVE FACELIFT

The project expected to be completed within 36 months started on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

The project involves the rehabilitation and expansion of a 19.5-kilometre stretch of the motorway from the Tetteh Quarshie roundabout to the Tema roundabout into a 10-lane span. It also includes the rehabilitation of the existing six-lane dividing Nsawam highway and the George Walker Bush highway.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah announced that the project is funded by a loan agreement of $338 million from the African Development Bank and is being supervised by Maripoma Enterprise Limited and Ghana Infrastructure Fund.

The project aims to improve the traffic flow, road safety, and economic activities along the corridor as the motorway continues to from various problems such as potholes, lack of adequate lighting, hawking, and criminal activities.

The rehabilitation and expansion project are expected to address these issues and improve the road conditions. The project reserves 40% of all works for local contractors.
