JULIUS KUUNUOR ADDRESSES GHANAIANS ON PREVIOUS FIRE CASES

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a total of 5,256 fire outbreaks were recorded nationwide from January to November 2023. This represents a 4.92 per cent decrease as compared to the recorded 5,530 fire outbreaks in the same period in 2022.

The Service also attended to 532 Road Traffic Accidents with a total of 2,557 injuries and 263 deaths recorded. The Service performed Fire Safety Audits and Inspections in 14,157 public and residential premises.

The Service also recorded 656,591 prank calls (false alarms) in the year with some even calling to say

“my wife’s private part is on fire come and quench it”

Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Julius Kuunuor said the decline in 2023 as compared to 2022 is due to the intensified public safety education initiative conducted nationwide by the service. CFO Julius Kuunuor emphasized that the safety of human lives and properties is a collective effort, so he’ll urge all stakeholders to ensure the safety of lives properties by adhering to the safety measures taught by the service.
