School shooting are a tragic part of history and Iowa has received its share of such events with one happening on Thursday morning at Perry High School Iowa (a suburb northwest of Des Moines) as Police and officials responded to report of gunfire at the school premises at 7:37am.
The incident happened on the first school day after winter break and as Police arrived at the crime scene found multiple gunshot victims with one reportedly dead and five (5) others wounded.
They were rushed to the hospital with one in a critical but not life-threatening condition. Four (4) of the victims are students of the school and one is the school administrator. The suspect has been identified as Dylan Butler, 17, who was a student at the school and was found with firearms and makeshift explosive device.
Butler was found in a self-inflicted gunshot wound and had a pump action shotgun and a small caliber handgun on him, and he made social media posts around the time of the shooting. Investigations are school on going and our prayers are with the victims and their family.
