AS Roma has parted ways with head coach Jose Mourinho after two and a half years in charge. The decision comes following a poor run of form, with the Giallorossi winning just one of their last six Serie A games and currently sitting ninth in the league. Former Roma captain Daniele De Rossi has been named as Mourinho’s successor.
Mourinho led Roma to victory in the Europa Conference League in 2022 and guided them to the Europa League final last season, where they were defeated by Sevilla on penalties. His contract was due to expire in June. De Rossi will take charge until June, with the club having an option to renew his contract based on achievements and results.
The club expressed gratitude to Mourinho for his passion and efforts during his tenure, but they believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club. Mourinho’s departure was not a sudden decision, and the owners had considered the team’s performance over the entire season before making this move.
Roma fans bid farewell to Mourinho, and now the legendary Daniele De Rossi takes the reins as manager until the end of the season.
