Chelsea FC secured their place in the EFL Cup final with an emphatic 6-1 win over Middlesbrough in the second leg of the semi-final. The Blues overturned a 1-0 deficit from the first leg with a dominant performance at Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals in the first half and two more in the second.
Cole Palmer scored twice, while Enzo Fernández, Axel Disasi, Noni Madueke and an own goal from Johnny Howson completed the rout. Middlesbrough scored a consolation goal through Morgan Rogers in the dying minutes.
This will be Chelsea’s first major final since the post-Abramovich era and a sign of their progress under manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is aiming for his first trophy in English football.
Chelsea will face either Liverpool or Fulham in the final at Wembley on February 25.
