COCA COLA FOUNDATION SUPPORTS WOMEN IN GHANA

Coca-Cola is a company that has been supporting women’s economic empowerment through various programs and initiatives. One of these is the 5/20 program, which is aimed to enable the economic empowerment of 5 million women by 2020. The program provided business skills training, mentoring networks, financial services and other assets to help women entrepreneurs improve their livelihoods, families and communities. According to Coca-Cola, the program exceeded its goal by empowering more than 6 million women across 100 countries.

Another example of Coca-Cola’s support for women is the Economic Inclusion of Marginalized Women Living in Urban Centers project, which was launched in Ghana in 2024. The project, funded by a $200,000 Coca-Cola Foundation grant, is empowering 300 young women, including those with impairments, economically. The beneficiaries are receiving training in soap-making, mushroom farming, and snail farming. The project aims to reduce the gender equality gap and promote positive change through the development of knowledge, vocational skills, and employability.

Coca-Cola also has a Global Women’s Leadership Council, which aims to accelerate the development and movement of female talent into roles of increasing responsibility and influence. The company has an aspiration to be 50% led by women globally by 2030. Coca-Cola believes that women are key to the world’s shared success and that achieving equality and empowerment for women has broad ripple effects that are good for society
