The BBC documentary on TB Joshua is a three-part series titled Disciples: The Cult of TB Joshua. It is an investigation by BBC Africa Eye that reveals evidence of widespread abuse and torture by the founder of one of the world’s biggest Christian evangelical churches, the Synagogue Church of All Nations (Scoan).
TB Joshua was a Nigerian preacher and televangelist who founded the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), a Christian megachurch that runs the Emmanuel TV television station from Lagos, Nigeria. He was widely known across Africa and Latin America for his alleged miracles and prophecies. He died on 5 June 2021 at the age of 57.
The documentary features testimonies from more than 25 former members of the church, who allege atrocities such as rape, forced abortions, physical violence, and fake miracles by the late TB Joshua. The documentary also exposes how some of the victims were attacked or threatened after speaking out against the abuse. The documentary is available on BBC iPlayer (UK only) or on the BBC Africa YouTube channel (outside UK).
