TANZANIA DIVERTS INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION FUNDS TO CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The current president for Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan has asked that funds allocated for this year’s Independence Day celebration be used in building eight dormitories for children with special needs

George Simbachawene, the country’s minister of state confirmed that the cost for the country’s 61 st Independence Day celebration which is $445,000 has been disbursed for the construction of the dormitories.

This is not the first time the country is reported to have engaged in this benevolent act but by other previous heads of states too.

Ex-President John Magufuli in 2015 also diverted funds for building road in their capital town Dar es Salaam. Also in 2020, he did same for the purchase of some medical facilities for the country
