The history of US-Iran relations is complex and spans over several decades. The recent tensions between the US and Iran have been escalating due to various incidents.
Not too long ago Iran’s Navy seized an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman that was at the center of a major US-Iran crisis.
There was a group of Americans that were freed from Iran as part of a prisoner swap deal, allowing Tehran to access $6 billion in oil revenues frozen under U.S. sanctions. This deal faced criticism from Republicans and it got tongues rolling. The US also accused Iran of helping Moscow to build a drone factory in Russia.
There have been reports that Iran’s fast-attack boats ‘harassed’ a ship in the Strait of Hormuz and this has made the US and UK militaries launch strikes against multiple Houthi targets in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
