Ghana is working on a cervical cancer strategy to support its effort to prevent and control the disease by 2030. The strategy is being developed by the Ghana Health Service in collaboration with the World Health Organization and a group of experts in cervical cancer control.
The strategy will focus on four pillars: free cervical cancer vaccination, scaling up prevention, encouraging screening for early detection, and support for treatment. Currently, cervical cancer is a major public health problem in Ghana, with low screening rates and high mortality.
