ANDROID PHONES TO GET NEW FEATURE THAT ALLOWS IT TO STREAM TIKTOK VIDEOS TO TV

Android phones will soon be able to stream TikTok videos to TVs using Google’s Chromecast system. This is a new feature that Google announced at the CES 2024 technology conference in Las Vegas.

It will let Android users show clips from ByteDance Ltd.’s TikTok app on TVs equipped with Chromecast, which is a device that plugs into the HDMI port of a TV and allows wireless streaming from a phone, tablet, or laptop. This feature is similar to Apple’s AirPlay service, which can share video from an iPhone with an Apple TV set-top box.

It is part of a broader effort by Google to make its devices work together more seamlessly. Google also announced other features that span phones, earbuds, TVs, and cars, such as Quick Share, Android Auto, and podcast transfer.

The TikTok streaming feature is expected to be available later this year for Android users. It will allow them to enjoy the popular short-video app on a bigger screen, and also discover new content and creators through the Chromecast interface.
