0

COPEC has mentioned that petrol is expected to reduce to GH¢9.30 per litre while diesel sold at GH¢12.80 and GH¢15 per litre at various pumps.

This will be a 15% and 8% reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel respectively. The new prices will, however, vary slightly depending on point of purchase (oil marketing company).

In an interview with the media, the head of research at COPEC, Benjamin Nsiah, noted that, a decrease in the global prices of oil products and the recent stabilization of the cedi is responsible for the expected marginal drop.

Petroleum users, basically motorists and other industrial users should expect a price decline of petrol of about 15 percent and that of diesel of about 18 percent. in the first pricing window of January which begins on January 1. Diesel is expected to be sold at a maximum price of GH¢14.60 per litre. However, other oil marketing companies are likely to sell diesel for GH¢12.80 or below and these are the smaller Oil Marketing Companies like Zen, Star Oil, Goodness and the rest.”

With respect to petrol, the expected maximum price for this same pricing window is likely to be GH¢11.88 per litre and the minimum price is expected to be GH¢9.30 per litre and the smaller OMCs such as Zen, Goodness, and Star Oil are also expected to sell petrol for GH¢9 within the window.

MP for Hemang Lower Denkyira was not chased from party office

0

The New Patriotic Party has denied reports circulating about MP for Hemang Lower Denkyira and Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations Bright Wireko-Brobby for being chased from the party office by youth during the weekend.

Read statement below.

We, the youth in the Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency of the Central Region, are shocked to read, watch, and listen to news reports that our champion MP was chased out of the party constituency office on the 19th of December 2022 by some disgruntled young people.

This report is a lie from the pit of hell. Nothing could be further from the truth. Hon. Bright Wireko – Brobby has brought more development to this constituency over the last 6 years than any other member of parliament in the history of the constituency. When it comes to the building of schools, health care facilities, and other infrastructure, as well as providing entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for women and the youth, Hon. Wireko-Brobby has no match in the history of our noble constituency. We the youth of the NPP and the young people at large in the constituency are excited about the work he has done for us so far. There is therefore no reason for us to chase him from the party office under any circumstance.

On the said date, the Hon. MP joined his constituency executives for a routine meeting. False information by key supporters of Lawrence Agyensam (CEO of Exim Bank who is interested in contesting the seat) that some polling station executives would be dismissed was spread around. But they were surprised and let down when that didn’t happen. The MP dished out Christmas gifts to the few party supporters who had gathered around the New Patriotic Party (NPP) office as always and left in peace. We are shocked to hear a fabricated story that our MP was chased out. God forbid!!!!

We as the youth in the constituency would want to use this opportunity to commend Hon. Wireko-Brobby for all the work he is doing to help bring progress and development to Hemang Lower Denkyira. We wish him well in all his endeavours and urge him to be strong and courageous, and not be demoralised because of the vile propaganda aimed at tarnishing his hard-won reputation.

Signed

Bernard Nana Ayebeng
NPP Constituency Secretary, Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency

USAG rejects 15% fee increment

0

The University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) has rejected the 15% fee increment approved by parliament for all public universities in the country.

This decision was taken by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission together with parliament ahead of school reopening. According to the association, this decision would make access to education more difficult for persons who intend to pursue or continue their education.

“This has begun with our students strongly expressing their displeasure over the past week on the various social media platforms,” they added.

“We are just about three weeks away from resuming school and up to date the fate of our university student is still hanging because we cannot point to a specific figure as designated and approved fees for the 2022/2023 academic year, they said.

Some proposed fees have been sent to Parliament by the association through Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and the Ministry of Finance as contained in the Fees and Charges Act, 2022.

Dr Opoku Onyinah: “…there’s an opposition so the opposition will continue.”

0

Dr Opoku Onyinah, the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for the National Cathedral during the three-day bible reading marathon at the National Cathedral site on Wednesday morning explained that when it comes to doing the work of God, it is normal to have others to oppose when decisions are being taken.

“if you go through the Bible, you see that once God wants to do something, there’s an opposition so the opposition will continue.”

“But, thank God that in the midst of opposition, God also raised those who are able to support, so, rather focus on those people who are supporting and encourage them to do that. We wish that the opposition had understood the concept. Sometimes if it’s possible for you to cut off your head and give it to somebody, you will do that and the person will never support you,” he added.

Dr Opoku Onyinah has asked all concerned stakeholders and individuals who see the good of this project to contribute towards it.

“So we are rather encouraging those people who see the essence and importance of the cathedral to continue to support and bring others on board,” he said.
