Google Helpful Content Update & Link Spam Update Delays due to Holidays

0

Google has officially confirmed that update on helpful content will require more time to roll out.

John Mueller of Google said these updates may require a longer time to take effect due to the “holidays” and “for safety reasons.”

“Sometimes things take longer, for good or for bad. We try to reduce the amount of change in our systems over the holidays for safety reasons, and that sometimes means things that started before take a bit longer to complete.” John Mueller wrote on Mastodon when asked about the status of the new update.

Ethiopian Airlines resumes flights into Tigray region

Ethiopian Airlines will resume flights to the capital of the war-torn northern region of Tigray starting on Wednesday, the first commercial flights to Tigray in about 18 months, the airline said in a statement.

The announcement comes a day after a delegation of government officials and heads of public enterprises visited Mekelle to discuss the implementation of last month’s peace agreement.

The agreement, which included promises to restore services, ended two years of fighting between the Ethiopian federal government and allies against the Tigrayan forces, which have killed thousands and displaced millions.

“The resumption of these flights will enable families to reunite, facilitate the restoration of commercial activities, stimulate tourist flow and bring many more opportunities which will serve the society,” Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew, who was part of the delegation to Mekelle, said in a statement.

A travel agent in Addis Ababa told Reuters that the first Mekelle-bound flight was fully booked within hours of the announcement.

Almost the entire region is now connected to the national power grid and telecoms services have been restored in 27 towns there, state media reported on Tuesday.

“In the meantime, handing over of heavy weapons and resumption of Constitutional duty of ENDF (Ethiopian National Defence Force) in Mekele in particular is expected to be executed until Thursday,” Ethiopian national security adviser Redwan Hussien said on Twitter. He cited the Nairobi agreement on the implementation of the peace accord, which called for the handover of heavy weapons, together with the withdrawal of foreign and non-federal forces, without naming specific foreign forces.

Eritrean troops, who have fought alongside Ethiopian federal forces but are not signatories to the peace agreements, have been accused of looting towns, and arresting and killing civilians after the agreement was signed.

A humanitarian aid worker in the Tigrayan town of Shire told Reuters he saw Eritrean soldiers there on Tuesday morning.

Debretsion Gebremichael, leader of regional party, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), called for their departure.

Death toll in South Africa fuel tanker explosion rises to 15

The death toll from a fuel tanker explosion in Boksburg, a South African city east of Johannesburg, has risen to 15, the country’s health minister said on Sunday.

“Yesterday [Saturday], the death toll was at 10 people and now we are sitting at 15 as of this morning,” Joe Phaahla told reporters at Tambo Memorial Hospital, close to where the blast took place.

The explosion happened after the tanker, which was transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), got caught beneath a bridge close to a hospital and houses, according to the emergency services.

“We received a call towards 7:50am (05:50 GMT) telling us a gas tanker was stuck under a bridge,” William Ntladi, spokesperson for the emergency services in the region, told the AFP news agency.

“Firefighters were called to extinguish the flames. Unfortunately, the tanker exploded,” he said.

One of those injured was the driver, who has been taken to hospital, he added.

He said the death toll had risen to 10 from the nine reported earlier.

Videos shared by residents on social media showed the dramatic explosion, with pedestrians running away from the blaze and cars dramatically speeding away.

Several houses and vehicles have been damaged by the explosion, according to local reports.

The tanker was reportedly delivering gas to the nearby OR Tambo Memorial Hospital, where some of the injured were treated. Patients in some units at the hospital had to be evacuated because of the explosion and fire, media reports said.

“Walking through here was just a sight of absolute devastation. I have never seen something like this ever before,” resident Simon Lapping told the local Citizen newspaper.

He said he saw the bodies of six adults and two children.

Of the 40 injured, 19 are in critical condition, while 15 others are seriously hurt but in stable condition, said Ntadi from the emergency services.

Six firefighters were also lightly injured, he said.

There was no immediate information on those killed in the blast.

The truck was carrying 60,000 litres of LPG, which is used primarily in cooking and gas stoves.

The incident will be investigated, said Tania Campbell, the mayor of Ekurhuleni, the municipality which includes Boksburg.

“The disaster management cluster is on-site assisting the victims of this tragedy and assessing the cause of the accident,” she said.

“On behalf of the city, the office of the executive mayor commits itself to assisting all role-players in ensuring that a comprehensive investigation takes place and those who are liable are brought to book.”

South Sudan has announced the deployment of 750 soldiers to eastern DRC

0

Heavy fighting in recent months between DRC forces and M23 rebels prompted the East African Community (EAC) to deploy a joint regional force that includes forces from Kenya, Burundi and Uganda.

At a ceremony in the capital, Juba, South Sudanese president, Salva Kiir, urged the soldiers to keep the order and protect civilians.

“Now you are an organized force and you are now going to keep the peace even though you are not wearing a blue helmet (usually worn by UN peacekeeping forces, Ed.), but the helmet that you are wearing now will change into blue and it will change according to your performance that you are going for and if you are going to the next mission you will be going with blue helmet”, said Salva Kiir, President of South Sudan.

South Sudan’s Defense minister re-affirmed the importance of the mission.

“Since we became independent this is the first mission for us to be part of in order to bring peace to the region and that is very important because in our country here, we have peacekeepers to keep the peace for us but now we are going to bring stability and peace and bring total peace to Congo and all our borders”, said South Sudan’s Minister of Defense and Veterans, Angelina Teny.

The announcement of the deployment came barely four months after thousands of fighters including former rebels loyal to Kiir and his rival, Vice President Riek Machar, were integrated into South Sudan’s army, a key condition of a peace deal to end the country’s brutal civil war.

Rod end bearing

Rod end bearings are bearings that do not come in a circular form but have also got a perforation at their upper parts. They are used on ends of cylinders, linkages, rods and shafts to take up angular misalignment between connected parts.

Bearing induction heater

0

Bearing induction heater is one of the safest tools that is being used for heating bearings and other metals electrically. Basically, heating changes the physical properties of metals thus making them look or feel soft or hard.

With this type of heater, once the metal gets heated to the required temperature, it can be removed with safety gloves and placed on a shaft while it cools down to fit the shaft on which it has been placed on.

Common applications of bearing induction heaters include: Industrial machinery, mining, energy, wind power, manufacturing, materials handling, steel and paper industries.

Find quality and affordable bearing induction heaters at Nakib Picasso Company Limited. They have got quality SKF and FAG heating devices that facilitates a safer mounting and dismounting of your bearings.

Hydraulic Pullers

0

Hydraulic pullers are used for the removal of bearings, gears, pulleys and shafts.

They are effective for the removal of the aforementioned devices no matter how tight they have been fixed. They cause less or no damage on tools being applied on.

Which type of hydraulic pullers can you find at Nakib Picasso Company Limited?

They are:

  1. Extra strong hydraulic FAG extractors with integral hand pump

This puller comes with a hand pump that is used for delivering hydraulic fluid under pressure through directly applied manual effort.

  1. Extra strong hydraulic FAG extractors with separate hand pump

This type of hydraulic puller comes with a hand pump that is used to apply oil for the easy dismantling of bearings and other tools.

  1. Three-section FAG extraction plates

For easy removal of fixed devices, the three rods of this puller are pushed to fit under the nuts on plates that they have been fixed onto before their removal without causing any damage.

Adapter Sleeves

0

They are mainly used to facilitate the installation of bearings that come with a bore. Some of such bearings include Taper Roller Bearings, Self-Aligning Ball Bearings, Spherical Roller Bearings, and Cylindrical Roller Bearings.

Parts of an adapter sleeve

Lock nuts

The aid mounting and dismounting of bearings hence reduces the amount of force being applied in order to avoid damage of shafts and bearings.

Lock washer

They are mainly fixed with the purpose of preventing fixed nuts from rotating when in motion.

Withdrawal sleeves

Withdrawal sleeves facilitate the location of bearings with bore being mounted on cylindrical shafts. Withdrawal sleeves after being mounted can be easily removed no matter how tight they have been fixed. Once the locknut is applied, it will loosen.

Hydraulic unit

They function more or less like oil paths in adapter sleeves making mounting to shaft assemble much comfortable especially when having to fix larger sleeves. They also have lock nuts attached to them.

The difference between an adapter sleeve and a withdrawal sleeve is that, an adapter sleeve is located at any position on a shaft together with the washer and locknut whilst a withdrawal sleeve is located on a shaft with support by a nut or end plate and mainly used for easy removal of bearings
