CALL ON GHANAIAN CONTRACTORS TO BE INNOVATIVE, COLLABORATE AND DEMAND FAIRNESS

Mr. Prosper Yao Ledi, the President of the Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana (ABCECG), has been vocal about the challenges faced by building contractors in Ghana. Mr. Ledi has urged building contractors to embrace innovation and resilience in the face of an increasingly challenging business environment.

He emphasizes that contractors must develop innovative strategies to remain competitive during these difficult times. The ABCECG stands ready to support them in this endeavor.
He addressed issues such as delayed payments, unfair contract awards, and harassment by statutory agencies, Mr. Ledi has called for government intervention.

He believes that timely project completion can save the country significant financial losses due to escalating costs. He encourages the government to recognize construction as a crucial sector for growth and secure funding before project commencement to avoid payment delays.

Mr. Ledi commends foreign contractors for their ethical practices and encourages local contractors to join ABCECG for knowledge sharing and technology transfer. He advocates for a more collaborative relationship between the building industry and the government, emphasizing the need for a united front in the face of adversity.
