It is believed that the spread of corona virus started at a seafood and meat market in Wuhan-China in December. Since then, the disease has spread across many countries worldwide. Even though efforts have been made to quarantine persons affected with the disease, it keeps spreading and has killed many people.
The corona virus is believed to come from animals and spreads to people who come in contact with such affected animals.
Possible ways COVID-2019 can affect Human Rights are:
- Unequipped health facilities can turn patients away hence denying them of having access to good healthcare.
- Unprepared countries will have no choice than to see citizens battling with the disease with no proper care or alternative remedy than to die.
- Affected persons seeking care from other countries would be denied access to those countries as it would cause a spread to other unaffected parts of the world.
- Inadequate health information and statistics on affected persons can cause others to be careless and might end up acquiring the Virus
Meanwhile every individual has the rights to access health facilities, information, free movement, and be protected in their countries just as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has provided.
