Social distancing during food distribution should be observed

The Information Minister has urged persons involved in the distribution of food to the vulnerable people in locked down areas in the country to try as much as possible to help government in the fight against coronavirus by ensuring that social distancing is observed. Otherwise government’s efforts in fighting this disease would be a waste since people would end up acquiring this virus during the food distribution.

He therefore stated that the Ministry for Social Protection and Ministry of Local Government have issued guidelines on how food distributors should go about the distribution of food at various distribution points as well as the distribution of relief packs. Hence the minimum of one meter or two-meter gap should be observed. Since government would not hesitate to stop the persons providing help in this exercise that are not observing necessary measures against COVID-19 during the distribution of food and relief pack.
