The Nevada inmate who attacked the judge by flying over the bench is Deobra Redden, 30, who was facing prison time for a felony battery charge stemming from a baseball bat attack last year.

He leaped over the bench and assaulted Judge Mary Kay Holthus on January 3, 2024, injuring her and two other court officials.

The violent outburst means Redden will now be charged with battery on a protected person resulting in substantial bodily harm, two other counts of battery on a protected person, and one count of simple battery.

After his violent act he returned to face the judge to know his faith on Monday, 8 2024 in the same courtroom he attacked the judge. He was sentenced by her for 19 to 48 months in prison for felony battery charge.

He was granted parole by the South African correctional services department, which deemed him fit for social reintegration. His release was opposed by Steenkamp’s mother, who said he never accepted responsibility for killing her daughter.

Pistorius claimed he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder when he shot her four times through a locked bathroom door at his home in Pretoria. His case sparked a global debate about gender-based violence and justice in South Africa.

However, Tommy Lee and Jermaine Jackson have been accused of sexual assault by different women in separate lawsuits filed under the law. The law allows civil suits in cases of sexual assault that are now beyond the statute of limitations where one or more entities are legally responsible for damages and the entity or their agents engaged in a ‘cover up’.

The law also extends the filing deadline for such cases until the end of 2023 or 2026, depending on the date of the alleged assault. Both Lee and Jackson have denied the allegations and are seeking to dismiss the lawsuits .
