Day 2 of situation in previously lockdown areas

0

It is evident that after the ban was lifted on the restriction of movement in the lockdown areas, more nose masks are being used by people in town. However, people have raised concerns on as to whether the fabrics being used for their nose mask is good or not. It would be better if people producing theses masks are educated on the right materials to use in manufacturing these fabrics.

Some food venders have started working in some areas as other venders are expected to start selling anytime soon.

The current atmosphere is a bit quite as people are being careful except at most market areas where a lot of people are seen trooping into various markets to sell and purchase items.

In terms of health, it is evident that the lockdown has changed the lifestyle of people as they are seen exercising especially in the evening. People are becoming more conscious of their health as they know a strong immune system will help in preventing the virus.

In terms of burial, some people are preparing to hold funeral activities as it is evident people are wearing their mourning clothes in town. However, all burial activities are expected be private as directed by the President and all necessary measures been observed to prevent the spread of the virus.

Social distancing is still problematic and a lot of work must be done to sensitize the pubic and other remote areas in the country in order to sensitize people on the need to observe social distancing as it is one of the ways of getting the virus

Then also the military are now few in town. It appears most Ghanaians are not too happy with the military not being active in town like they did during the previous weeks of lockdown even though some other strict measures are being put in place to curb the spread of the disease just like some markets have been closed down due to overcrowding.

It also appears some Ghanaians are happy about the lift of the ban while others are not happy about the decision hence generating conversations and debate among most Ghanaians.

Meanwhile the President earlier explained his reason for the change in decision and the main reason why the lockdown was initiated.

The President is hopeful the Ministry would perform this task by giving the necessary guidelines to face mask producers in the country.

“The Ministry of Health, I am hoping, any day eminently… before the week is out, will come out with guidelines on what should be the minimum requirement and standards for producing them,” he said.

He also said that” the domestic production that we have rammed up is being confined to satisfy the needs of the health workers.” As this will enable health workers have enough and safe equipment to work with. Besides subsequent productions are expected to meet the incoming criteria to be set by the Health Ministry and the Ghana Standards Authority.

Social distancing during food distribution should be observed

0

The Information Minister has urged persons involved in the distribution of food to the vulnerable people in locked down areas in the country to try as much as possible to help government in the fight against coronavirus by ensuring that social distancing is observed. Otherwise government’s efforts in fighting this disease would be a waste since people would end up acquiring this virus during the food distribution.

He therefore stated that the Ministry for Social Protection and Ministry of Local Government have issued guidelines on how food distributors should go about the distribution of food at various distribution points as well as the distribution of relief packs. Hence the minimum of one meter or two-meter gap should be observed. Since government would not hesitate to stop the persons providing help in this exercise that are not observing necessary measures against COVID-19 during the distribution of food and relief pack.
